Hobgoblins to Roam Norfolk's Streets 

Halloween gets an early start Friday night when Botelle School hosts the annual PTO Spooktacular. The holiday continues Monday night when Maple Avenue and its feeder streets are dedicated to trick or treating. Entertainment for adults will be provided by Jonathan Edwards in a concert at Infinity Hall, by film programs at Norfolk Library, and by Dancing for Fun at Battell Chapel. Municipal meetings for the week are the Town Website Committee, the Board of Education and the Board of Selectmen.

Halloween Happenings 

Children will be in for some thrills and chills Friday, 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., when the PTO stages its annual Boo-telle Spooktacular in the covered playground at the rear of the Botelle School. The event is is free and participants should dress warmly. This is not a drop-off event. Meanwhile, the collection of Halloween candy to assist homeowners along designated trick-or-treat routes continues. Donation points are at the Norfolk Post Office, Norfolk Early Learning Center, Norfolk Hub and Botelle School. Homeowners on Maple Avenue, Terrace View, Shepard Road and Hillside and Emerson streets can sign up to receive the candy at Norfolk Hub. Contact Janet Byrne at 914- 588-4672 for details. The Norfolk Volunteer Fire Department is encouraging children to stop by the fire station on Shepard Road between during the same hours for a treat.

Schedule a Ride to the Polls  

The Norfolk Community Bus will be available for rides to the Town Hall to vote on Tuesday, November 8. Please contact the Selectman's Office for a ride at 860-542-5829.

Jonathan Edwards Comes to Infinity 

Folksinger Jonathan Edwards will come to Infinity Hall Saturday at 8:00 p.m. Edwards began performing in the 1960s and is still a vital and relevant artist in today’s folk and Americana scenes. For tickets, click here.

Alfred Hitchcock's Filmmaking Career to be Explored 

Alfred Hitchcock made 54 films during his career, including classics such as "Notorious," "Rear Window," "North by Northwest," "Vertigo," and "Psycho." Sunday, a 4:00 p.m., Brian Rose, professor emeritus at Fordham University, looks at Hitchcock's achievements as one of the 20th century’s greatest filmmakers. Register here.  

Dancing for Fun Thursdays at Battell Chapel 

Kristin Mudge is offering Dance for Fun Thursdays, 5:45 to 6:45 p.m., in Battell Chapel. After a warm-up, participants start with  basic steps. Later, additional elements, will be added, but all movements are only suggestions. Email Mudge at [email protected] to get on the communication list as the schedule may vary

"Breathless" Continues French Film Series 

The Norfolk Library continues its New Wave French film series with a screening of "Breathless," Thursday, November 3,  at 7:00 p.m. The film will be introduced by French writer/director/editor Diego Ongaro of Norfolk. Probably the most emblematic film of the New Wave films, "Breathless" stars Jean-Paul Belmondo and Jean Seberg and was directed by enfant terrible Jean-Luc Godard. Register here.

Rec Committee Seeks Members 

The Recreation Committee is seeking members. The committee promotes community activities such as youth sports, senior exercise programs and more, providing oversight and coordination. The committee meets monthly for 30 minutes. For more information, call Marc Crone at 860-508- 1598.

Municipal Meetings 

Municipal meetings next week are: Town Website Committee, Tuesday, 5:00 p.m.; Board of Education, Tuesday, 6:00 p.m.; Board of Selectmen, Wednesday, 4:00 p.m.

And Coming Up Next ...
With Halloween behind us, the region will enter the portals of deep Fall, but not before one more meaningful meander around Great Mountain Forest with Kripalu-trained mindful outdoor guide Stephanie Landau. The Curling Club grooms potential new members with a Learn to Curl session, and artist Catherine Moore opens a new exhibit at the Norfolk Library.  Meetings include the Inland Wetlands Agency, Farmers Market Committee, Planning and Zoning Commission and Economic Development Commission. The Board of Finance will not meet.
