Gas Spill Remediation to Expand this Spring

Residents were informed of spring plans for remediation of the effects of last November's massive gas spill during a fourth public information session held Tuesday.

Spring Cleanup Efforts for Gas Spill will Expand

Norfolk residents convened Tuesday evening for the fourth gas spill update meeting since the Nov. 5 spill. First Selectman Matt Riiska reported that the meeting was businesslike with the exception of a question from the floor regarding allowing the remediation company to start work on private property. Read more

School Board Mulling Over Need for Cooperative Agreements

The Board of Education took a first stab this week at the thorny problem of how to maintain the local elementary school with only 56 students projected for next year. Read more

Connecticut-Asia Cultural Center Opening April 1

The Connecticut-Asia Cultural Center, 207A Westside Rd., will open for its 2023 Season April 1. It will open to the public the first weekend of each month through November between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Reservations are not needed. Read more

The Norfolk Curling Club, 70 Golf Drive, will hold its next “Learn to Curl” session Saturday, March 11, at 4:00 p.m. In a 90-minute clinic participants learn rules and terminology and how to deliver and sweep the stone. Read more

Paddock to Speak on Iron Industry

Richard Paddock, president of the Friends of Beckley Furnace. will present the final program in the Great Mountain Forest lecture series Saturday, March 11, at 4:00 p.m. when he discusses the Iron Industry of the Northwest Corner. Read more

Chadwick Stokes to Take Stage at Infinity Hall

Chadwick Stokes and the Pintos will take the stage at Infinity Hall Saturday at 8:00 p.m. Stokes' many projects have many woven together music, art, history and activism. Read more

Hughes, Powelzyk to Dish the Dirt on Waste Management

Jimmy Powelzyk, transfer station attendant for Norfolk, and Kelly Kandra Hughes, Norfstroms volunteer, will update their presentation on specific rules about waste management systems and how to make the process easier for everyone involved March 14, at 6:00 p.m. at the Norfolk Hub, 2 Station Place. Marionette Program at Library

Join the Norfolk Library Corner Club and the Tanglewood Puppeteers on Wednesday, March 15, at 3:30 p.m. when the master puppeteers discuss some construction and stringing techniques. Read more

Guided Meditation Session at Hub

A free Community Guided Meditation with Nancy Monk of the Healing Nest will be held Thursday, March 16, 6:00  to 7:00 p.m. at the Hub. Read more

German Film Series at Library

Director Diego Ongaro will introduce and discuss three unique films—”Toni Erdman” (2016), “Western” (2017), and “Great Freedom” (2021)—from the Berlin School of filmmaking in a three-part series at the Norfolk Library during March. Read more
