Pepper Street Project Update - Detour Scheduled for Next Weekend

There has been significant progress on the Pepper Street Reconstruction Project. A substantial stretch of the road has been excavated, drainage work completed, and the first course of pavement applied. One side of the new box culvert near Jockey Hollow Road has been installed and is now being backfilled.

Excavation will be continuing between Cambridge Drive and 500 Pepper Street, followed by installation of the base course of pavement anticipated the following week. Utility companies will be completing the transfer of overhead wires between Commerce Drive and Cambridge Drive and the relocation of a fire hydrant.

Significant roadway excavation, reconstruction, and formation of embankments is necessary in the area between Cambridge Drive and Commerce Drive.  To expedite this work, this section of Pepper Street will be closed to through traffic next weekend to allow for round-the-clock work. The road will be limited to local access starting on Friday, September 16th at 7:00 pm, and concluding sometime on Sunday, September 18th.  The road will be opened as soon as the work is completed, and prior to paving which will follow.  Detour signs will be posted.
