Here's what's new in Manchester:

1. Celebrate Manchester! June 4-12
Formerly known as Pride In Manchester, this is the 31st anniversary of the town's weeklong celebration. Free family friendly events and activities all week long! Here’s a few highlights: Historical Society open houses, Flag Day ceremony, barbecue at the Elks Club for veterans, live music Downtown, Duck Race at Charter Oak Park, Truck Day at the Lutz, and more!

2. American Flags for sale!
Flag day is June 14! The Customer Service & Information Center in Manchester Town Hall currently has American Flags available for purchase while supplies last for only $16.00. A new shipment of flags and kits are on order, but will sell at a higher cost. The Center is open Mon. - Fri. 8:30am-5pm, and is located at 41 Center St. Call 860-647-5235 for more info. or view photos at:

The Elks Lodge accepts flags to be retired. Please call ahead to arrange a time for drop off. (860) 646-9262.

3. Sustainability Commission
The next meeting is scheduled for June 15, 2022, held via Zoom at 6:30pm. Contact Courtney Lindberg at  [email protected] for information on joining the zoom meeting.

4. Veteran’s Advisory Committee
The Town of Manchester Veteran’s Advisory Committee meets monthly to discuss issues of related to veterans and their families.  The meetings are open to the public and we encourage participation.
Meeting schedule: 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at Manchester Senior Center cafeteria, 549 Middle Turnpike East, Manchester CT.

5. Yoga Class for Teens
Tuesday, June 14, 2022 from 3:15 PM to 4 PM for Grades 6 to 12 at Manchester Public Library, 586 Main St.
Build a better you and join us for an afternoon yoga class! Hosted by Blissful by Melissa. Please bring a yoga mat or a beach towel. No registration required. 860-645-0821.

6. VFW Meeting
The VFW Post 2046 will meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month except July and August; meetings are held at the Army & Navy Club, 1090 Main St. at 6:30pm. Next meeting is June 14, 2022.

7. Concert at the Manchester Bicentennial Band Shell.
Thursday, June 9 at 7:00 p.m. The Manchester Historical Society will present “Spring in Concert,” with music provided by the South Windsor Community Band. The Band Shell is located at 70 Bidwell Street, Manchester, on the MCC campus.

8. Silk City Board Game Group
Meets Saturday June 11th, 2022 from 12-4:30PM at Manchester Public Library
Join us for a fun afternoon of board games. Volunteers will teach: Marvel Champions; Now or Never; Disney Sorcerer’s Arena: Epic Alliances; Foundations of Rome; Flamme Rouge with expansions; and Stephenson’s Rocket. We’ll provide the games; no need to bring any with you. Free program for adults; light refreshments to be served. No registration is required for this event.

9. The Wit and Wisdom Poetry Club of Manchester meets every second Saturday of the month from 1-3pm at the Eastside Neighborhood Resource Center, 153 Spruce Street. We are always looking for new members: no formality, just come!

10. The Manchester Art Association's (MAA) newest exhibit at the Manchester Town Hall located at 41 Center Street is entitled "Out of My Comfort Zone" and includes pieces in "all mediums" by MAA members. The exhibit can be seen at Manchester Town Hall during normal business hours or online at https://www.manchesterart.org/town-hall . 11. Trash & Treasures Tag Sale
South United Methodist Church is holding a “Trash & Treasures” tag sale Saturday, June 11 from 9 – 2 indoors at the church building on the corner of Hartford Rd and Main St in Manchester. Come visit our huge tag sale, recycled jewelry, books, puzzles and “Antikews” - our better quality used items.    For details call Ginny at 860 646-3962.
