Celebrate Manchester! June 4-12

Formerly known as Pride In Manchester, this is the 31st anniversary of the town's weeklong celebration and starts with a free concert at Center Memorial Park on Saturday, June 4, at 6:30 p.m. featuring 'Soul Sound Review.
Free family friendly events and activities all week long! Spring Water Main Cleaning

To provide the Town of Manchester’s water customers with the best possible quality of water, we will be cleaning water mains from April 4, 2022 through July 1, 2022. The cleaning is done to remove sediment in the pipe that has accumulated. The following streets are scheduled to be flushed:

The Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a meeting

Passports

The Town Hall Customer Service & Information Center has been designated as a Passport Acceptance Agency by the U.S. Passport Agency, which means that we are authorized to accept and process the applications, before forwarding them to the U.S. Passport Agency for issuance of passports.  U.S. passports are only issued to U.S. citizens or nationals.  Each person must personally appear in the Customer Service & Information Center to apply for his or her own passport. Children under sixteen must appear in person along with both parents. Passport Hours are by appointment only. Please call for further instructions and to make your appointment: 860-647-5235.

The Manchester Police Athletic League is sponsoring

A 3-on-3 summer basketball program on Friday nights starting June 17. It's being held at Charter Oak Park and there's more info and registration instructions online at:

Rec on the Run starts June 6!

The Town of Manchester Department of Leisure, Family and Recreations’ mobile pop-up creative arts, sports and games vehicle offers programs and activities to Manchester residents in neighborhoods and parks around our community. Rec on the Run distributes specially designed activity boxes on a first come, first served basis. Boxes allow easy activity pick-up on-site.
During the evenings the program will operate on-site from 5:00-7:00 PM; Mondays at Northwest Park, 448 Tolland Turnpike; Tuesdays at Westside Oval, 110 Cedar Street; Wednesdays at Market Field, 163 Spruce Street; and Thursdays at Center Memorial Park.

The Manchester Historical Society invites the public to its open houses:

Please come to our Historical Society open houses on Saturday, June 11 from 11:00 to 3:00: Cheney Homestead, Old Manchester Museum, History Center, Keeney School, Woodbridge Farmstead, plus Pitkin Glass Works, the Fire Museum, and Lutz Museum.
Open house at The Woodbridge Farmstead on June 11 celebrates a day at the farm.  The Visitor Center has displays showing some of the history of the Manchester Green area.  Take a self-guided tour through our 18th century barn and a guided tour of our 1830s farmhouse.  Refreshments will be available, and some games set up for the children.  Submit a name for our new display cow in the old barn.  A Woodbridge Farmstead tee shirt will be given in July to the person whose chosen name is picked for our cow.  We are located at 495 East Middle Turnpike. Parking available off Woodbridge Street behind the barn and through the gate.  Please be careful entering and exiting our parking area.   Overflow parking is also available at the nearby Senior Center. Also open on Sun. June 26.
In addition to June 11, The Old Manchester Museum is open Saturday June 4 from 10:00 to 2:00.

History TV Show for June:
“Floyd Welch Remembers Pearl Harbor,” an 84-minute television show interviewing the late Navy veteran Floyd Welch, at the time of the recording, the last living Connecticut survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. You can watch this month's show on Channel 15 Saturdays at noon and 8:00 p.m. throughout the month (the show changes each month).

African American and Black Affairs Council (AABAC)

The Manchester Lions Club meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month at 7pm.
