From: Town of Hinsdale

I hope you are well on this rainy, humid day. The following will are due to be hot and muggy, so prepare to beat the heat as best asSomere are some tips on the Town website homepage, available here: Hinsdale, MA | (hinsdalemass.com) (https://www.hinsdalemass.com/) , under the News and Headlines header. And remember to stay hydrated and keep your animals hydrated too.

Below, please see several important news items.  More specifically, read about
Tuesday night Hinsdale residents are invited to the first session about the possible merger of the Hinsdale and Dalton Police Departments.  The information is available below and is on the Town's website at www.hinsdalemass.com.
Great News -- The State just informed the Town that we have received funding to pave part of RT-143/Peru Road.  See the details below.  We all know that road work is very costly, but Hinsdale Officials will continue to pursue all options available to imp[rove our roads.

In other news, you may have seen or read reports that the State is again experiencing a drought. While the Berkshires are fairing a bit better than the counties east of us, we are not that far behind. I have provided some interesting links to the State's drought information, where you can find updates and ongoing monitoring of the situation, as well as information on ways we can all help conserve water.

We also have a Special Election coming up in August, work on Skyline Trail/Middlefield Road continues, and the Transfer Capping project will be moving forward soon. Read the updates on these items and more in this newsletter.

Best,
Bob

Dick Scialabba Steps off the Select Board
At the June 8 Select Board Meeting, Board Chair Dick Scialabba announced that, on the advice of his physician, he would step off the Hinsdale Select Board. His resignation became effective on June 22, 2022.

Dick shall remain on as Planning Board Chair for now, and he'll always be a Hinsdale Fireman's Association member, but he has been clear about needing to cut back.

He has served this community in many capacities over the years, as a Finance Committee member, on the Board of Assessors, and perhaps most importantly to him, as a  Volunteer Fireman and Ambulance Service member. So, when you see him around Town, please extend your thanks for his dedicated service to this community.

Possible Hinsdale/Dalton Police Merger -- Invitation to First Community Session
Tuesday, July 26, 2022

On Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at 7:30 pm, a Community Meeting will be held at Nessacus Regional Middle School regarding the Hinsdale/Dalton Police Regionalization Study. The Town’s initial meetings with the consultants are separate. The consultants thought it best to hear questions and concerns from residents in individual initial meetings and later hold a joint session(s). The Select Board hopes that residents will come to listen to a brief presentation, then share their questions and concerns. While the meeting is available via Zoom, questions and comments will be taken from those physically present.
