Town Of Brookfield Spotlight - June 2022

Government and Politics

June 2, 2022

From: Town of Brookfield

It’s June already! May was incredibly busy. The Town of Brookfield voted in favor of the 2022-2023 budget in support of Board of Education, Town Operations and Capital projects. July 1 will start our new fiscal year and we look forward to making things happen across town with the newly approved budget.

May was the month of many observances. Nurses, Police, Firemen, Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage, Teachers appreciation, Jewish American Heritage, Mother’s Day, and Military Child, among many others. We also proclaimed the month as Mental Health Awareness Month. I would ask that EVERY DAY we commit our community to increasing awareness and understanding of mental health, the steps our citizens can take to protect their mental health, and the need for appropriate and accessible services for all people with mental health conditions. We have local resources available at the Brookfield Cares website.

Thank to the Lions Club for hosting our wonderful Memorial Day parade - a fantastic event honoring those military men and women who paid the ultimate price for freedom. It was so nice to have the parade back after a two-year hiatus.

Thank you, as well, for the Jason D. Lewis Memorial Brookfield VFW Auxiliary Post 10201 for once again hanging our American flags on Route 133. The flags are just beautiful!

I've also been receiving some very kind emails from residents regarding the great works of our Parks and Recreation and Public Works departments for the great job they're doing across town. Our grounds are well maintained, our public spaces are looking fabulous, and road paving has begun. It's nice to hear from residents about the good job our town employees are doing to keep our town top notch.

Brookfield High School had senior prom and I had the opportunity to see some of our senior class dressed up for the evening. I also had the chance to see some of our senior athletes play in their last games before graduating. It's a special time of the year - I know many families across town have loved ones graduating from high school/college and are enjoying weddings. CONGRATULATIONS to everyone!

Also, in June, we will be unveiling the "Honor Wall" in the front lobby of Town Hall. More information will be forthcoming on the date and time.

I look forward to summer, especially our Concerts at the Park and Farmers Market - both starting June 17.

Yours in Service,

Tara Carr
