In a press release dated Sept. 13, the Town of Oro Valley announced that the large dog park at Naranja Park would temporarily close for the reinstallation of grass; however, there has since been a change to the turf design, which requires additional trenching and irrigation installation. To accommodate these changes, the original Oct. 2 closure date has changed. Closure of the large dog park began on Wednesday, Sept. 27. Click here for additional details on the project.

NARANJA PARK EXPANSION PROJECT UPDATE
As the Naranja Park Expansion Project continues to progress, we will be providing updates on a regular basis. For more information on the project, please click here.

Week of October 2 construction update: Construction continues on the pickleball courts, now placing and compacting the gravel below the slab, called AB or ABC, more formally known as aggregate base course. This is well graded gravel that provides a stable base for paving or other structural elements. The sidewalk construction continues with a ten-foot sidewalk all around new field 5, the west field. The septic tank at mid-field is installed to serve the new restroom. Parking lot lighting bases are being installed starting on the east side of the site near existing field 4.

Making Lane Reservations: OVAC reservations open 48 hours in advance beginning at Noon (For example…Wednesday at noon the whole day of Friday will open.) If making a lane reservation for a customer, we still need to wait until noon, preferably 12:01 pm, to process an in-person reservation to keep things fair. Community & Recreation Center reservations for classes and lap lanes two days before the usage date at 12pm (noon) also. (Changed February 2023) The reason for changing from 5 a.m. is that staff is available every day of the week at noon, whereas the previous 5 a.m. did not offer customers a chance to call with questions or concerns.
