Celebrate autumn and participate in a walking tour in beautiful, historic Concord Center on Saturday, October 29, 10:30am-12pm! Meet at The Umbrella Arts Center and join the group to view the Go Out Doors public art exhibition in Downtown Concord. Hear from several of the artists who will share their insights then return to The Umbrella to celebrate with fall-themed refreshments. 

Painted doors will be for sale after the close of the exhibition for $200 apiece. To inquire about purchasing your favorite door, contact [email protected].

ARTS & ENVIRONMENT IN THE COMMUNITY

Please join us for a Community Listening Session, Wednesday, November 2, 6-7:30pm. The goal of this session is to gather input on and ideas for future expanded programming initiatives at the intersection of the arts and environmental issues. RSVP here.

Whether or not you plan to attend on Nov. 2, you can also help shape our discussion and our strategic planning by filling out our pre-session Arts & Environment Survey.

Also join us for a FREE Arts & Environment Drop-in Family Day, Saturday, November 5, 3-5pm. Drop by any time during the two-hour time block to partake in an arts & environment related craft led by our talented art instructors! Open to all ages and abilities. RSVP's appreciated but not required.

THE UMBRELLA ART TALK SERIES

LIMITED SPACE IN MASTER CERAMICS WORKSHOPS

The Umbrella is honored to welcome famed ceramic artists Isezaki Koichiro, Jeff Shapiro, and Tim Rowan for a panel discussion and community conversation on Sunday, November 6 from 1-3pm. Moderated by Judith Schwartz, Professor Emeritus of Art History at NYU, the artists will discuss their work, careers, and the tradition of Bizen pottery. The panel will conclude with a trip to the Lucy Lacoste Gallery for the concurrent Bizen Revisted show (on view November 5-December 3).

Director of the Harvard Ceramics Program, Kathy King, will lead a workshop on the lively and popular technique of sgraffito on Saturday, November 16 from 10am-4pm. Kathy will share an array of tips and tricks and will instruct participants on how to explore these techniques on a small test tile.

*NEW* CERAMICS ARTIST RESIDENCY

We are excited to announce our NEW Ceramics Artist Residency! This position will provide the selected artist with a studio space, access to state-of-the-art ceramics resources, the opportunity to participate in Studio Artist exhibitions and the Spring Open Studios event, and the chance to instruct a full semester class. 

Deadline to apply is November 15.

CONCORD'S 250TH CELEBRATION

Join in a community discussion to help plan Concord’s 250th Celebration. On Thursday, November 3rd at 7pm, in the Goodwin Room of the Concord Free Public Library, citizens will have a chance to discuss the goals, theme, and hopeful outcomes of the celebration. The Select Board has established the Concord 2025 Executive Committee that envisions a wide range of exciting events and activities to commemorate our observances.

ARTSPACE MAYNARD NEWS

ArtSpace Maynard will premier its outdoors public art project, The Cube, on Nov 4 & 5 from 7-9PM. This multi-channel video projection collage installation features Brooklyn-based Artist Stephanie Beattie, whose piece, “Web Portal” explores the architecture and patterns of connectivity. On Nov 6, Beattie will lead a Master Class on projection installations for Volunteers and Interns for the project (if interested in volunteering, contact [email protected]). ArtSpace Maynard has also announced it is inviting applications for a new Executive Director by November 15.
