Norwalk, CT -  In just two years, The Norwalk Art Space has become an integral part of the city, offering free arts education to local students and providing a welcoming and inclusive arts hub for the community. Created by civil rights activist and attorney Alexandra Davern Korry, The Norwalk Art Space has been a labor of love since its inception. Although Alexandra fell ill and never saw the space completed, through the love of her family, it is now the heartbeat of the neighborhood.

“I find myself highly motivated by the kids we are serving and the lives we are impacting,” said Executive Director Duvian Montoya. “We are not just teaching young students painting, drawing and composition skills; we are supporting their potential and building their confidence by teaching them to be creative and bold, and helping them to develop a variety of skills for navigating the world.”

The Norwalk Art Space has been transformational for its students, artists and the broader community, bringing people from all walks of life together through the common bond of art and music.

Dr. Susan G. Weinberger, Co-Chair of the Arts Bash said, “I am so excited to support The Norwalk Art Space and this very special event. There is no greater gift than the opportunity for youth to discover and develop their own talents. Proceeds from the May 18 Arts Bash will provide young artists in the area with free lessons and a sense of purpose.”

This year’s Arts Bash will take place on Thursday, May 18 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Attendees will enjoy live music by Rick Reyes and incredible food and cocktails from Marcia Selden Catering, renowned chef Bill Taibe, and The Art Space Cafe. Students from the Petty-Drayton Music Program at the Art Space will also perform. All proceeds from the event, co-chaired by Stephanie Thomas and Dr. Susan G. Weinberger, will be used to keep classes and events free to all. Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are available at thenorwalkartspace.org/artsbash

The Norwalk Art Space is grateful to its sponsors: Adria Petty, The Drayton Family and Marcia Selden Catering (Visionary Sponsors); Melissa Wilkinson Foundation (Innovator); DR Bank and Fairfield County Bank (Advocate).
