On August 14, 1897, The Lakeville Journal printed its first issue. 125 years later our weekly newspaper continues as a pillar of this close-knit countryside community. The Lakeville Journal Foundation invites you to celebrate a monumental anniversary for this nonprofit publication. Join us this summer for 125, our month-long anniversary series of festivities that honor our history, our dedicated coverage of the area, and most of all, to celebrate you, our readers.

Salisbury Band Concert on the Scoville Memorial Library Lawn

August 27, 5:00- 7:00 p.m

Traditional Band Music

Since 1928, the Salisbury Band has been marching in firemen’s parades and performing at concerts-on-the-green and other community events. The Salisbury Band is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing traditional band music to the Northwestern Connecticut community.. SML will serve lemonade. You may wish to bring a lawn chair and more.

Last Saturday’s regatta was the sporting event of the season.

Fred Mason sang very acceptably in his father’s place in the M.E. choir last Sunday.

Fred Mason has resigned his place in the Holloy manufactory and will shortly join his father at Buchanan, Michigan.

If there is sufficient wind this afternoon the postponed sailing races will occur on Lake Wononscopomac at 2:30. There are enough entries to make the contest very interesting. Everybody whistle for wind.

H.J.Bissell and wife attended the first day’s races at Millerton Tuesday afternoon

Miss Morgan spent the past two weeks in Hartford visiting her aunt. She returned Saturday.

A sampler of gentle somatic movement, Yoga, Qi Gong, and more! No experience is necessary. This class is easily adaptable for people of all ages and ability levels. Suzanne is a certified Yoga Therapist who believes strongly in the body’s innate ability to heal, and the power of mind-body practices to support wellness at any age.
