Central Ohio Symphony’s 44th Season Announcement

The Central Ohio Symphony’s 44th season is ready to bring both the expected and the unexpected to its audiences and the greater central Ohio community. Music Director Jaime Morales-Matos, now beginning his 20th year with the orchestra, will be conducting the five-concert series.

“Season 44 will intrigue and delight our audiences,” said Executive Director Warren W. Hyer. “We have guest artists from around the country and the world and several world premieres.

The Symphony season will have five concertsagain this year with the openingconcert at the beginning of October. Three of the five concerts will take place in 2022, and three of the concerts will be on Sunday afternoons.

Major symphonies by Tchaikovsky, Brahms, and Beethoven will highlight the season. Year 2 of the Symphony’s “Play It Again” series gives underrepresented composers a second or third performance of their compositions and new music for the audience to experience.

Hyer said, “The unexpected will includea Latin jazz flute concerto by Mariano Morales. The Holiday concert will bring a world premiere of music by Westerville composer Ken McCaw forIrish Uillean pipes and the return of soprano Angel Tyler. In March, world-renowned trombonist Peter Steiner to debut a work based on music from UFO movies. Soprano Angel Tyler will return in May singing poems by Langston Hughes; that concert will also includea concerto that will bring 14 timpani to the stage!”
