Newsletter

Dear Friends,

Happy New Year!  I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and is looking forward to all that 2023 will bring!

Speaking of “new”, I am pleased to announce that Alexandra “Zanny” Stowell is our new Teen Services Librarian.  Zanny is a bit of a familiar face around the Library as she once served as one of our interns.  She is very excited to bring new teen programs to the Library and to continue favorites such as the Middle School Graphic Novel Book Club and Inklings!

We have several special events this month including an all-ages Birds of Prey program with Horizon Wings on January 14 and Gizmo’s Pawesome Storytime for ages 5 and up on January 28.  Our adult needle felting series continues with rabbits and more paper crafting fun is on deck with poinsettia flowers!

Finally, this will be my last newsletter as the Director of The Brookfield Library as I will leaving mid-month.  It has been an honor to be the Director of such a vibrant, wonderful library with a truly amazing staff.  Thank you.

Details for all of our offerings are below so register for a program or book club and try something new in 2023!

Connecticut Calligraphers

January 7–February 27

Art Reception: Saturday, February 11 from 2–4 pm

The Brookfield Library Art Gallery presents Connecticut Calligraphers, a community calligraphy exhibition on view from January 7 to February 27.  Enjoy the beautiful world of calligraphy with examples from some of the best calligraphers in Connecticut. Many different styles will be exhibited, from traditional to modern. Sometimes letters will be drawn, not considering their meaning, but simply how they combine to form an artistic shape.

The public is invited to the art reception on Saturday, February 11 from 2–4 pm in The Brookfield Library Art Gallery.

The Brookfield Library Art Gallery is located in the Library's Community Room and is open during the Library’s regular operating hours. Please check in at the Circulation Desk before entering the Gallery.

Area artists interested in being considered for future shows in The Brookfield Library Art Gallery are invited to submit samples of their work by emailing The Brookfield Library Art Gallery Committee at [email protected]. The Committee will review all submissions.
