now open and accepting submissions.

Each year, AIFF provides a platform for indie filmmakers

who are creating films that not only entertain but invite us to consider contemporary issues via numerous genres.

AIFF also challenges gender imbalance and the

lack of diversity in the film industry.

Community Events

48 Hour Film Project 

in Partnership with AIFF

announces the opportunity of....

a wild and sleepless weekend in which you and a team make a movie - write, shoot, and edit - in just 48 hours. On Friday night, teams draw a genre from a hat. They are then given a character, prop and line to include in their films. On Sunday night, in a wild dash to the drop-off event, the film is turned in - and teams celebrate.  The films are then screened at a local theater in front of an audience of filmmakers, friends, and families. In 2023, we'll be celebrating 20 years of the Boston 48HFP and we are inviting you to participate.

Arlington's Newly Appointed

POET LAUREATE

Jean Flanagan was chosen as Arlington’s new Poet Laureate last month, selected by the Poet Laureate Committee for her array of talents, her vast experience, and her warm and prescient poetry. On January 24, Jean was welcomed at a well-attended reception at the Robbins Library. Steven Ratiner, past Poet Laureate, introduced Jean, and both the committee and the public were able to express their appreciation for Ratiner's tenure and legacy.

Maggie Budzyna, a new generation of filmmakers, a Newburyport, MA native and daughter of John Budzyna, ex-director of the ACA is asking for support in completing a film.

Synopsis: A young woman navigates a surreal audition process where her limits are tested in pursuit of success, fame and winning the game. "With Rapt we're interested in exploring power dynamics through a surreal lens. Our female and LGBTQ+ led team aim to amplify nuanced narratives like this one that reflect back the ambiguity of the world in which we exist."
