Tempe History Society Lunch Talks
“Tempe’s Early Presence of Hispanic Leadership”
By Dr. Pete Dimas
Wednesday, Sept. 13, 11:30 a.m.

The founding of Tempe was very much a part of the centuries-old movement of people north from central Mexico. By the time Charles Trumbull Hayden established his residence in what becomes Tempe, these people, principally from Sonora, were already living at this Salt River crossing. These Hispanic pioneers were involved in ranching, farming, freighting, business, etc.

They were also involved in the leadership of the area. Dr. Pete Dimas will explore the origins and evolution of Tempe’s Hispanic heritage and leadership, and their implications for Tempe’s future. The event is held in the Tempe History Museum Community Room, or live stream the event on Facebook.
