The Time is Now!

The M recently hosted the first in-person event in the museum's Sculpture Gallery since the start of the pandemic. To celebrate this new chapter at the M, outstanding speeches from Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan, St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter, as well as President and CEO of the Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation Eric Jolly inspired the attendees, leading the way for the introduction of the M's new Executive Director Dr. Kate Beane. She acknowledged the incredible past support that the museum has received and rallied the attendees about the future of the M and the importance of individual support needed to expand the museum spaces and carry the M forward.

As Dr. Beane stated, "The time is now!"

Your partnership allows us to continue to explore and share histories inspired by our region’s rich art offerings. During this past fiscal year, the M has continued to develop local and regional relationships that drive the M’s mission. Highlights include:

-- Wise, Gifted, and Black: Art by the Magnificent Golden Agers with Hallie Q. Brown Community Center

-- Honors Visual Art Exhibition with Saint Paul Public Schools—now in its 31st year!

-- Many Waters: A Minnesota Biennial, juried by Matthew Fluharty, Dakota Hoska, Dr. Laura Joseph, and Jovan C. Speller

-- Sutures with Michael Khuth and the Emerging Curators Institute

-- Transformation: Art from the Inside with Art from the Inside and Kylie Linh Hoang

-- Mestizaje: Intermix-Remix with Grupo Soal del Corazón

Looking ahead, the M is nearing the launch of the final phase of construction on the expanded museum. This expansion will greatly increase the gallery spaces available to showcase the M's outstanding 5,000-piece art collection and will allow the staff to continue multi-year partnerships and showcase new exhibitions featuring artists such as Hazel Belvo, Grupo Soap del Corazón, and more.
