Dear Friend Unknown,
THANK YOU for making 22-23 a Banner Year for Spartanburg Philharmonic!

The Spartanburg Philharmonic is thrilled to announce, because of YOU, our loyal donors, supporters and patrons, we have met and exceeded our matching gift challenge, generously donated by Dr. Barry Bodie.  And, we have met our fundraising goal for the 22-23 Season! THANK YOU!

Thank you for supporting the Spartanburg Philharmonic through concerts, events and through our amazing two-year search for our new conductor.  After receiving over 160 applications, we are thrilled to announce John Young Shik Concklin will take the stage on September 16th at Twichell Auditorium at 7pm.  Don’t forget to join us for a wine and beer reception before the concert and a cake and champagne reception in Wilson Hall (right next door).

The Spartanburg Philharmonic, founded in 1928, will be turning 95 years old this season and we think that’s quite an impressive birthday….especially when you consider the Charlotte Symphony is 91 years old and the Atlanta Symphony is 78 years old.  For all of YOU who have been supporting our organization for so many years, THANK YOU and CONGRATULATIONS!

As we enter this monumental 95th year, we want to take a moment to thank YOU for sharing the exciting 22-23 Season with us! Here’s a recap of our accomplishments:

- Six Zimmerli Series concerts at Twichell, each with a different music director candidate (including the Nutcracker, a partnership with the Spartanburg Ballet)
- Nineteen Music Sandwiched In programs – free for all attendees at the Spartanburg Public Library
- Four Espresso Series concerts at the Chapman Center
- Four Bluegrass concerts at the Chapman Center
- Three brilliantly performed Spartanburg Philharmonic Youth Orchestra concerts with record-setting audience attendance
- Three thousand fourth graders from Spartanburg County performed with the Spartanburg Philharmonic for our LINK UP program (partnership with the Weill Music Institute of Carnegie Hall)
- Five Music Lovers’ Luncheons at the Piedmont Club to meet each music director candidate and to hear about the Zimmerli concert musical selections
- Five new staff members hired

Now, we excitedly await our 95th year and John Concklin’s inauguration as our organization’s 10th Music Director on September 16th.  We hope you will join us as we celebrate our successful past in Spartanburg and look forward to our very promising future!
