Mother's Day

SEALT celebrated Mother's Day at the Jensen-Olson Arboretum

Moms, mamas, grandmothers, nanas and their families enjoyed spring blooms along with live music and refreshments. Board members had great conversations with folks about our conservation work and loved seeing everyone at the Arboretum!

Jan Rutherdale's Memorial Bench

Thank you for celebrating Jan's legacy with us.

Over 50 people gathered at the Marjory and Edgar Huizer Fishing Access Site on Douglas Island for a bench dedication to commemorate Jan's service to the Juneau community and her life lived outdoors. We hope you visit the bench and enjoy the view of the mountains and trails Jan loved.

"Jan literally radiated positive energy that was infectious and warming. She was immediately involved, engaged, and committed to moving SEALTrust forward and working to achieve our conservation and stewardship goals. And of course, there was her smile... I am very grateful that I had the chance to experience her energy, grace, and endearing optimism.

I really like this spot for her memorial bench. She was involved with the development of this site. It provides access to the south end of the Mendenhall Wetlands State Game Refuge, which SEALTrust has worked hard to protect and maintain. And it looks out towards the mountains Jan loved. Every time we go to Eaglecrest or out to Outer Point, we can see the view and remember her. So thank you, Jan, for being such a shining light, and for your dedication to community, to SEALTrust, to your family, and to your friends."

- Board Member Alex Wertheimer, from remarks made at the dedication event
