Summer Story Time

Wednesdays @ 10:30am
This is the last session of story time for the summer! We'll come together to sing songs, read books and learn rhymes about butterflies. We'll go on a butterfly counting walk exploring the different plants and flowers that attract our flittering friends. All ages are welcome.

Story time will resume for the fall on September 21st.

September at a glance

With school back in session, we ease our way into a wonderful season of fall programming. Story time will resume after a two week pause on Wednesday, September 21st and Danny Tieger returns with his bi-weekly online performances of "Danny Sings About Everything," on Thursday, September 15th. The first Saturday at SML has us celebrating World Skyscraper Day with fun activities, games, and books. On the third Saturday, the 17th, we'll host the first of our "Magic The Gathering" sessions with an intro to the game. Happy first week back to school everyone and we look forward to seeing you at the library in your free time!

Celebrate World Skyscraper Day

Saturday, September 3rd @11am
Do you know in which US city the first skyscraper in the world appeared? Do you know which city is now home to the tallest building in the world? Come join us to explore and celebrate these magnificent feats of engineering and build your very own tower in the sky. There will be different stations with games, individual activities, and group activities; and who knows, maybe we'll build our very own mini metropolis!

Registration is not required but appreciated. All ages welcome.

Danny is back!

Bi-weekly
starting Thursday,
September 15th
Danny Tieger brings a
bi-weekly music enrichment show into classrooms and living rooms across the northwest corner. "Danny Sings About Everything" is a 35-minute musical romp with singing, dancing, and a whole lot of great ideas from the viewers. Students review developmentally appropriate themes with improvised songs and a cannon of loved music.

“1000 books before kindergarten”

Research shows, “The single most important activity caregivers and teachers can do to help children become successful readers is to read aloud to them every day.”
