Family Storytime

All ages welcome!

Every Wednesday morning, we come together, sing songs, read books, learn rhymes, play and engage in a craft. We usually enjoy a freshly baked treat, too. When the weather cooperates, plan to be outside!

Danny Sings About Everything!

Keeping spirits lifted and everyone engaged, author, songwriter, and performer, Danny Tieger continues to honor us with making never-before-thought-of-things come to life through his musical series for toddlers, preschoolers and their caregivers! Outdoor Family Storytelling: A sea of stories told by Martha Bishop

Saturday, June 4th, 11am

Join us outside around the Buttons Garden for the last of our first-Saturday of the month storytelling traditions, as we make way for summer programming. No one better than Martha Bishop, storyteller extraordinaire, to take us on a journey with dramatic tellings of sea-themed tales. Not to be missed!

Reading Buddies

Developed by the Scoville Memorial Library and designed to improve reading comprehension and fluency, Reading Buddies is a program pairing reading-aged children with a high-school student to read together. Schedules are coordinated and sessions held virtually via Zoom. The program not only improves reading comprehension and fluency, it makes reading fun and promotes friendships and mentorships too! NorthEast-Millerton Library, Pine Plains Free Library and Scoville Memorial Library's ONLINE Teen Writing Club!

Every Friday from 5 to 6:30PM*

For writers of any genre. Teens in 6th-12th grade are welcome. Registration is required. To register, please email Abbey at [email protected] 

Local writer and poet, Abbey Gallagher, is continuing our adolescent writing workshop series ONLINE using written prompts, physical objects, images, and much more to spark curiosity and imagination in new or regular writers.

*The program meets online every Friday.

Virtual Tutoring

Could you use extra help with certain subjects at school? The library, in collaboration with the Hotchkiss School, is offering a tutoring program that will pair students according to their strengths and learning needs. Sessions are coordinated via email and phone and held conveniently via Zoom. Click here for the sign-up and consent form. Within 3 days, you will be contacted to schedule your session. Learning is fun! No ifs, ands, buts, about it!
