Winter Story Time

Wednesdays @ 10:30am

Every Wednesday morning we read books together, sing songs, learn rhymes, play games, explore our surroundings & engage in a craft. Story time is geared towards pre-school aged children, but all ages are welcome!

Reading Buddies

Designed to help younger children practice reading, Reading Buddies is a program that pairs emerging readers with another, older "kid." The idea and hope is that connecting with another, older "kid," is a treat in itself, and that reading aloud to a "kid" is low-pressure. At the same time, the student volunteer (age 12-18) serves as a reading mentor, demonstrating how to stay calm while reading and how to conquer reading difficulties. The buddy will ask questions about the text and have a basic understanding of assessing and helping with reading comprehension. For more information and to register click here.

Stitches for stories

Saturdays January 7th & 21st @11am, Ages 8+

Join local crochet enthusiast, Sharon Johnson, for the art of crochet for children and their families. We'll review the basics of different stitches and techniques and begin working on crocheted bookmarks. As we progress, we'll create a whole host of stitched goods that surround the world of books and stories, think tea cozies, book covers, doilies for cookies, you name it!

Sharon is a Salisbury resident who learned to crochet at the age of six from her mother and grandmother. Over the years, she's learned to make hats, gloves, scarves, sweaters, blankets among many other great items. Crocheting is a fun and relaxing hobby. All materials will be provided. Registration requested.
