Antonin Dvo?ák composed the Terzetto for himself and two violinist friends.

Yes, so many of the past greats were violists!!!

The four movements of the Terzetto in C Major are delights in every possible way!!!
It bursts with singing melodies, lively rhythms, and Dvo?ák’s characteristic folk-music spirit.

From  the violist in the group and
(this is NOT a viola joke!)

"It's a wonderful opportunity to be not only our usual
middle voice but also bass line
(no cello or contra bass in sight)
and even the melody (aka 'the tune')!"

A Quick Synopsis:

The first movement is thoughtfully lyrical and connects gracefully to the varied and tender second movement.
The Scherzo third movement displays Dvo?ák’s folk style at its best -  a boisterous Czech folk dance.
The  final movement presents a theme
- and TEN variations -
quite the array of musical characters!

Dvo?ák pulls out all the stops,
using his best compositional tricks
to build up to a spectacular climax!!!
