February 24, 2023

Entry Fees for all Rhode Races increase on March 1st!  Register today!

We have been busy in the off season to make this year's Rhode Races the best ones yet!  Post-race massages, free GPS Athlete Tracking, post-race parties and more!

Pappas/OPT of RI is our Recovery Zone Partner for each of our Rhode Races.  At the conclusion of your half or full marathons, look for our Recovery Zone tent where you will find yoga mats, TriggerPoint tools and a physical therapist from OPT.  All of this will be provided to help you stretch, roll out and receive a quick work over to facilitate your recovery.  They will also be hosting some great videos on proper techniques and exercises.

RaceJoy has some exciting new amenities.  Not only does it support live GPS tracking, off course alerts, cheers from family and friends and fun POI along the course, but now it also can function as an SOS beacon.  If you need assistance along the course, open the app and send us a message securely.  We can communicate via the app and the GPS in your phone will allow us to find you for a pick up.

Finally, Sam Adams will be our Beer Garden sponsor in Newport. Every participant over 21 will receive a free adult beverage in our Post-Race Recovery area. (And for those that ask, Newport is the only community that allows us to have a Post-Race Beer Garden.  We would have them after every race if we could!  But we will have some alternate options for everyone.)  And Nitro Bar will also be in Newport, providing every participant one free hot coffee or cold Nitro Brew.  These are just a few of the fun activities we will have in our post-race festivals this year.

Our first race of the season, Newport, is 7 weeks away and it is nearly SOLD OUT.  If you are interested in joining us on April 15th, we do not recommend waiting to sign up for this year's race.

We are excited to host you all this year - whether you are doing a full marathon, half, 5k or Wine Run! Happy running!

There is no such thing as bad weather.....

Only inadequate clothing

Lately, weather forecasts have been all over the map - rain, snow, warm temps, cold temps.  Running in New England has its challenges, especially as Spring approaches.  Set yourself up for success with the proper outdoor gear - raincoats, gloves, hats, gaiters and more.

Labor of Love

Even with Valentine’s Day in the rearview mirror, February always seems to have a bit of love and kindness in the air. In the last few weeks, we have been out and about in the community – at The Run Show in Boston, launch parties with local Run Clubs and my own personal running groups. At each of them, we have the joy of talking to other runners – about our race experiences, our training goals, injuries, what the weather for running has been like – just normal runner stuff. I could talk running all day. But I always approach these conversations wearing two hats – my “runner” (I getchu) hat and my “race director” (logistically – what happened and why) hat.
