From: City Of Wichita

The City of Wichita is reissuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) for adaptive re-use and rehabilitation of the former Central Library building located at 233 S. Main Street, adjacent to Century II. Last spring, the City of Wichita first opened proposals from public and private entities interested in the former Central Library building in spring of 2023. Following several months of feedback, the City readjusted the RFP and is putting it back out to bid.

Some of the adjustments in the reissued RFP include allowing requesters to request financial assistance from the City, which was feedback received during the original RFP process.

The building, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, has seen interest from many types of businesses including retail, hospitality, entertainment and education, but the City has not yet identified a tenant for the space.

Proposals must be submitted by 10 a.m. on February 2, 2024 through the City’s Vendor Self Service website link at https://selfserviceict.wichita.gov/vss/Vendors/VBids/Default.aspx (search #233364).

A screening and selection committee consisting of staff from various City departments and the community will evaluate eligible proposals and provide a recommendation to the City Council. The timeline to present to the Council is dependent on the number and quality of proposals received.
