THE BOOKSHOP RETURNS

Expand your learning with the Quick Bookshop.

We invite you to dive deeply into the big ideas and themes in our current and upcoming productions through selected books in our mobile library, which you’ll discover in the Quick lobby. These titles—which you can peruse when you come to buy tickets, before the show, or during intermission—will give you greater insights into the world of the production, offering both confirmations and alternative perspectives on the performance works, which are always provocative and of the moment. Some selections will provide more information about the artists you’ll be seeing on stage or are just for fun. We offer both fiction and non-fiction; serious and easy reading; books for young and older readers alike.

Curated by Dr. Marti LoMonaco, professor of Theatre and American Studies, the mobile library is designed for you to enjoy in the lobby or buy the book and take it home with you. Plus, special discounts are offered for Quick Members.

STUDENT ENGAGEMENT

Speakers and Fairfield University students create meaningful connections.

One of the many benefits of having a nationally ranked institution (U.S. News Best National Universities) in your backyard is the access to thoughtful and engaging learning. For over 25 years, the Quick has been committed to extending our students’ experiences beyond the classroom by offering acclaimed speakers as part of the Open VISIONS Forum series – bringing students and the larger Fairfield community together for insightful town hall-style conversations. This fall, many of our students will enjoy even more access with lecturers joining them in advance of the lecture to speak about topics in alignment with their studies.

On Tuesday, November 1, Frances Haugen will come to speak about “Ethics, the Public Good, and the Challenge of Social Media” and will join students as part of the Applied Ethics graduate studies for an in-depth conversation around addressing the challenges of social media and ethics and understanding how to make real and effective change.

Then we welcome Evelyn Tribole, award-winning registered dietitian and author, on Thursday, November 10 as part of the Open VISIONS Forum and Marion Peckham Egan School of Nursing & Health Studies lecture. Evelyn Tribole will engage in a discussion with students in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, and student athletes to have a meaningful conversation around student health and development.

These experiences not only engage our students in deeper learning connections with our speakers, but ultimately it expands their knowledge and understanding in both the classroom and as individuals making decisions about the impact they want to make on our society.
