Going Behind-The-Scenes

What’s going on at the Quick this month?

You might imagine that on a university campus things might seem a little quiet compared to the hustle and bustle of the school year, but at the Quick, our doors are open year-round in service of our campus and larger community. Currently, the lobby is filled with young voices as kids learn the big number for the production of Beauty Lou and the Country Beast with Missoula Children’s Theatre camp. Fairfield University students start to reach out to become part of our front of house team and to apply for internships. The Volunteer Welcome is right around the corner. And, our staff is busy ensuring that our robust season of performances and lectures are available for all, including our work with under-resourced youth through our ARTS FOR ALL program.

In addition, our Senior Fellows program kicks-off on August 20th as we welcome ten artists from Senegal and Zimbabwe to be in-residence for one month in preparation for the U.S. premiere of nora chipaumire’s new work, NOT waiting… Over the next month, you will have opportunities to experience these incredible musicians and dancers, many of whom are coming to the United States for the first time. Through open rehearsals and artist talks, you’ll learn more about their experiences and the creation of this new work.

Plus, our Box Office staff has been very busy thanks to your support of the Quick. Through your Membership and ticket purchases, we are more excited than ever to see you this fall for inspiring performances, thoughtful lectures, and the return of the Met: Live in HD. If you’ve been holding off on purchasing tickets or becoming a Member, there’s no better time to make it happen as tickets are selling fast for events and Quick Members are taking full advantage of enjoying world-class art and speakers at just $25 a ticket.

While we all make the most of summer days, know that the Quick Center team is preparing an amazing season for our students, faculty, staff, and community and soon enough we look forward to welcoming you into our space to come together and experience the power of the live performing arts.

Summer Camps

Making lasting memories each summer at the Quick.

More than 500 kids between 6 – 16 years old have made their way through our doors this summer as part of our Missoula Children’s Theatre and Summer Intensives. In that time they’ve made lasting friendships, tried new things, gained a little more confidence, and enjoyed the lasting impact of the arts.

With only one more week to go, we want to note we still have a few spots remaining for our Summer Intensives:

Hip Hop
Aug 14 - 17 | 2:30 - 4:30 p.m.

Miss Lex offers an interactive space for students to explore different music genres and dance styles. Participants will learn how to connect movement to beats, stories, and emotions. Each session includes a warmup, dance game, and a short choreography to showcase.

Step Right Up! An Introduction to Circus Skills
Aug 14 - 17 | 2:30 - 4:30 p.m.

This physical theater class is based on international circus skills, offering a variety of activities for all ages, including balance board, stilts, problem-solving, juggling, plate spinning, and tightrope testing. Participants will host a skill-share workshop for friends and family. This camp is led by circus artist, Cynthia Rauschert.

And, if you’re interested in catching performances of Missoula Children’s Theatre productions to see our young thespians in action, contact our box office at 203-254-4010 for tickets to Beauty Lou and the Country Beast on August 11 and The Secret Garden on August 18.
