This fall, Kansas City’s Botanical Garden partners with Quixotic to bring Dark Forest, a unique and immersive outdoor experience tied to the magic and mystery of unknown forest spaces, back to Powell Gardens. This signature event is open October 21-23 and 27-30 (7-11 p.m.). The experience takes visitors along a 1-mile mulched path in Powell Gardens’ woods.

“Working with Quixotic to launch Dark Forest last year was a wonderful experience and reinforced by attendee compliments about its uniqueness,” said Mark Zimmerman, Interim Chief Executive Office for Powell Gardens. “We are excited to join forces with this creative powerhouse again. Fall is a beautiful time in the Midwest, with the new chill in the air bringing  a quiet, almost eerie, feeling to October. The spectacle of a dark woodland, unexpected performance, and stellar sound and visual elements makes Dark Forest a uniquely Powell Gardens experience. This event stands out in Kansas City and we can’t wait to share it with you.”

The Dark Forest path, forged through a magical and mysterious wooded landscape, is brimming with captivating performance, hypnotic music, and creative technology. Here, the channels of nature’s mortal realms are fiercely pierced by unexplainable paranormal forces and spellbinding supernatural beings. Dare to brave the call of the sinister night and discover the soul-awakening phenomena that quietly lingers just beyond the glimmering light.

New in 2022, a mystic faire entertains with oddities and curiosities near the Missouri Barn. Sip signature cocktails and stock up on lighted gear before embarking on your journey through the woods.

Dark Forest is best suited for a PG-13 audience. This signature event has limited tickets available and is only open October 21-23 and 27-30, 2022. Doors open at 5 p.m., with the Dark Forest experience taking place 7-11 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance at powellgardens.org/dark-forest when they become available to the public at noon on September 6, 2022. Members and email list subscribers will receive early access to Dark Forest tickets.
