Pinal County Elections Update

On Friday, the Board approved the canvass of the election results of the August 2nd Primary Election. County Attorney Kent Volkmer had previously explained that canvassing the results is a “ministerial” function the board is obligated to perform.

A reminder that on Wednesday, August 17th, at 9:30 a.m., the Board of Supervisors are holding a Work Session dedicated to issues around the Primary Election. The Board welcomes hearing Election Day experiences from poll workers and voters alike at the meeting, which will take place at the 1891 Courthouse in Florence (135 N. Pinal St., Florence, AZ 85132).

County Public Health Department Detects First West Nile Virus Positive Mosquitoes in 2022

This week, during routine seasonal mosquito surveillance, the Pinal County Public Health Services District (PCPHSD) detected West Nile Virus (WNV) positive mosquitoes in the County. It is especially important for everyone to be vigilant in preventing mosquito breeding and mosquito bites now that we have had some significant monsoon rains. Click here to read more.

Jury Questionnaire's to be Mailed Early Next Week

Jury Questionnaires are being mailed out on Monday, August 15, to Pinal County residents drawn randomly from lists received from the Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division and Pinal County Voter Registration.

You are being considered for jury service if you receive a Jury Questionnaire. The questionnaire is not a summons for jury duty, and you are not being called to report at this time. The questionnaire aims to obtain information to determine whether you are qualified to serve as a prospective juror.

All questions on the questionnaire must be answered and returned to the Court within ten days of receipt. We encourage you to complete the questionnaire online by scanning the QR Code located on the back of your questionnaire, or you can mail it back to our office postage paid. If completed online, you may discard the paper questionnaire. Have questions? Call us at 520-509-3555.

Be Prepared for Possible Flooding Events - Sandbags are Available for County Residents

Sandbags are available for Pinal County residents. Click below for locations and contact information. Pinal County will only provide sandbags and sand, and you will need to bring your own shovel to load the bags. There is a limit of 25 bags per household.

USDA Designates Pinal County, Arizona as Primary Natural Disaster Areas

This Secretarial natural disaster designation allows the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) to extend much-needed emergency credit to producers recovering from natural disasters through emergency loans. Emergency loans can be used to meet various recovery needs, including replacing essential items such as equipment or livestock, reorganizing a farming operation, or refilling certain debts. FSA will review the loans based on the extent of losses, security available, and repayment ability.

Appointments Announced for IT and Community Development Departments

After a spell as Interim IT Director, Robert Stanley has been permanently appointed Chief Information Officer for Pinal County. Robert, a US Army Veteran, joined Pinal County in 2019 after serving as IT Director/CIO of Corning Community College in upstate New York. Robert served as IT Operations Manager for Pinal County from May 2019 until being named Interim CIO.

Meanwhile, Todd Williams has been appointed Deputy Director of Community Development. Todd has been a Pinal County resident for the past 14 years and has extensive Government experience in Arizona. He is a dedicated results-oriented leader with diverse experience in development, planning, flood control, water/wastewater, transportation, and environmental compliance.
