New Administrative Appointments

The Osceola County School Board approved the following administrative appointments on June 7, 2022:

Dr. La Tonia Harris, Principal at Liberty High School

Dr. La Tonia Harris has held the following positions: Teacher for Orange County Public Schools (1995-1997); Teacher, Curriculum Coach, Assistant Principal for Curriculum, and Principal for Miami-Dade County Public Schools (1999-2014); Principal for Charter Schools USA )2014-2019); Principal of BridgePrep Academy of Osceola (2019-2020); Learning Resource Specialist and Assistant Principal at Harmony High (2020-present).  She received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Florida State University, and both a master’s degree and doctorate's degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.

Valerie Martinez, Principal at Thacker Avenue Elementary School for International Studies

Valerie Martinez has held the following positions: Teacher at Gateway High (2002-2008); ESOL Educational Specialist at Neptune Middle (2008-2009); Title III ESOL Resource Specialist for Math and Science for the Osceola School District (2009-2010); Secondary Science Curriculum Specialist for the Osceola School District (2010-2011); Teacher at Parkway Middle (2011-2012); Science Teacher at Neptune Middle (2012-2013); District ESOL Educational Specialist (2013-2014); Senior Administrator and Director for the Multilingual Student Education Services Department for Orange County Public Schools (2014-2018);  Coordinator for the Multicultural, Curriculum, Instruction, and Compliance Department for the Osceola School District (2018-2019); and Assistant Principal for Thacker Avenue Elementary School for International Studies (2019-present).  She received her bachelor’s degree in Molecular/Microbiology from the University of Central Florida, and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from National Louis University.

Lonnie Howard, Assistant Principal at Denn John Middle

Lonnie Howard has held the following positions: Teacher/Literacy Coach at Westside K-8 and Saint Cloud MIddle (2018-2020); Academic Coach at Winter Springs Elementary (2020); and Dean/Testing Coordinator at St. Cloud Middle School (2020-2022).  He received his bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Arizona State University and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from American College of Education

Dania Perlaza, currently Assistant Principal at Denn John Middle, to become Assistant Principal at Bellalago Academy

Return from Leave of Absence:

Henry Hoyle, currently Principal at Denn John Middle, to become Assistant Principal at Harmony High School
