Many parts of Oregon are experiencing excessive heat this week. Governor Brown has declared a state of emergency in 25 counties for extreme heat from July 25-31. If you or someone you know needs help escaping the heat, call 2-1-1 or visit 211info.org to find a cooling center near you. While Oregon is experiencing extreme heat, be sure to: learn the symptoms of heat stroke, heat exhaustion, and other heat-related illnesses, which are preventable; check in with seniors and other vulnerable people in your neighborhood; don’t leave kids or pets in cars; wear a life jacket on the water; and stay hydrated.
