Join Curator Katie Wood Kirchhoff in conversation with special guests JJ Murphy and Nancy Mladenoff to celebrate the opening of the special online exhibition, Right Under Your Nose: Children’s Printed Textiles from the Collection of JJ Murphy and Nancy Mladenoff. Featuring 21 selections from the collection of JJ Murphy and Nancy Mladenoff, Right Under Your Nose is inspired by Murphy and Mladenoff’s compendium of more than 3,200 examples of children’s printed textiles, gifted to Shelburne Museum in 2020. Learn about Murphy and Mladenoff’s collecting histories, discover their favorites, and explore ideas and issues brought forth by the objects.

Speaker Biographies
Nancy Mladenoff is Professor Emerita of Art at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her work is in the permanent collections of four major museums in the Midwest. She currently works as a full-time artist in New York City.

J. J. Murphy is Professor Emeritus of Film at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has written four major books on independent cinema, as well as Children’s Handkerchiefs: A Two Hundred Year History (Schiffer, 1998).
