From: Mulvane Art Museum

Starting Saturday, August 6, 2022, the Mulvane Art Museum's ArtLab will reopen with new hours. The Mulvane Art Museum's ArtLab, an innovative center for hands-on arts education, has been temporarily closed to the public while the museum conducted a national search to find an Education Curator. Newly appointed to the position, Jonathan Matteson has a B.F.A. in studio art from Washington State University and an M.F.A. in studio art from the University of Idaho. In addition, Matteson has a decade of experience working in museum and gallery programming and education. He has taught at both public and private schools. "As a Curator of Education," Matteson states, "I will facilitate learning, particularly formal and non-formal art appreciation while conducting outreaches that are fun and fascinating for all who participate."

Matteson is especially looking forward to welcoming the community back to ArtLab with new public hours. ArtLab will be open to the public on Tuesday evenings from 4 pm – 7 pm and Saturday afternoons from 12 (noon) – 4 pm.

Additionally, ArtLab will be open for private educational group tours on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Tours must be scheduled in advance and are limited to 30 participants. Groups may schedule a morning (starting 10 am) or afternoon (starting 1 pm) session.

To schedule a private group tour in advance, please email the Mulvane Art Museum’s Education Curator, Jonathan Matteson, or call the museum office at 785-670-1124. Please include the ages and number of participants with your information (minors must be accompanied by an adult).
