Moraine Valley Community College is hosting “Chatting with a Moraine Valley Trustee: Why Politics, Public Policy, Political Participation and Bi-Partisanship are Important” with Jaclyn O’Day, a member of the Board of Trustees, on Thursday, Sept. 14, 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., in the Library (Building L), 9000 W. College Parkway, Palos Hills.

Attendees can meet O’Day, a lifelong Palos Park resident who was chief-of-staff for former Congressman Dan Lipinski and most recently was executive director of the U.S. House Problem Solvers Caucus. She has a wealth of experience with politics at the local, state and national levels and will discuss how she became interested in the field; the intersection of politics and public policy; why bi-partisan solutions are important to addressing important issues; and why it’s challenging for Democrats and Republicans to work together.

This event being offered by The Democracy Commitment, which is a commitment by colleges and universities to feature democratic and civic work as well as support curricular and extracurricular programs that build civic skills. For more information, contact Kevin Navratil at [email protected]
