The annual Longview Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration includes a full weekend of activities celebrating the life, message, and dream of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  The activities are organized by the Office of Arts and Culture in collaboration with various city departments and community partners such as Arts!Longview,  Longview Ministerial Alliance,  Christus Good Shepherd,  Partners in Prevention, Unity and Diversity Committee, and others.

A parade will be held at 10 a.m. on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard from Pittman Street to Foster Middle School.  Following the parade will be a Community Festival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  at the Broughton Recreation Center and a Humanitarian Award Celebration at 6:30 p.m., featuring award recipient District 2 Councilwoman Nona Snoddy.e.
