Missouri’s State Parks and Historic Sites Offer A Variety of Activities

Jefferson City, MO - Looking for something fun and informative to do? Check out a few of the events planned at Missouri’s state parks and historic sites.

 - Saturday, Oct. 28: Public Meeting at Arrow Rock State Historic Site

The public is invited to attend an open house-style public meeting for Arrow Rock, Boone’s Lick, Sappington Cemetery and Sappington African American Cemetery state historic sites. Representatives from Missouri State Parks will be on hand to provide information and answer questions about these sites. The public is invited to share comments about the sites and their operations. The meeting will be held in conjunction with Arrow Rock’s Halloween Spooktacular event, starting at 4 p.m. in the campground at Arrow Rock State Historic Site, located at 39521 Visitor Center Drive in Arrow Rock.

 - Wednesday, Nov. 1: Landing After Hours: Missouri Actresses at Jefferson Landing State Historic Site

Lights! Camera! Action! Missourians have contributed to the history of cinema since the earliest days of movie making. In this program, Dr. Sarah S. Jones of the Missouri State Museum will celebrate the lives of Missouri women in the film industry, from the era of silent movies through mid-20th century. She will examine these heroines of entertainment and their connections to our state, along with their cinematic work and their extraordinary lives. The Capitol’s Hall of Famous Missourians includes three of these women: Josephine Baker, Ginger Rogers and Betty Grable.

The Missouri State Museum’s “Landing After Hours” program is located at the Lohman Building at 100 Jefferson St. in Jefferson City, starting at 7 p.m. Parking is available in the lot next to the Lohman Building. In addition to being held in person, this program will also be livestreamed on the Missouri State Museum’s Facebook page.  

 - Thursday, Nov. 2: Missouri Trails Advisory Board Meeting at FHWA Building

The Missouri Trails Advisory Board will hold its biannual meeting at 11:30 a.m. at the FHWA Building, located at 3220 W. Edgewood, Suite H in Jefferson City. The meeting is open to the public.
