MMFA Welcomes:

BILL BARRETT

Melissa Morgan Fine Art is pleased to announce its representation of iconic American Modernist Sculptor Bill Barrett, whose works are now, currently on view in our gallery on El Paseo in Palm Desert, CA. A prolific artist and one whose career spans many decades, Barrett has been exhibiting his unique metal sculptures and abstract paintings in numerous solo and group exhibitions in such places as Switzerland, Germany, Bulgaria and Japan as well as in the United States, since the mid 1960s.

Barrett’s sculptures of fabricated aluminum, bronze or steel address the interplay between positive and negative space with grace, elegance and exquisite balance. His works call to mind the fluid effortlessness of calligraphic strokes and betray a positivism to which many viewers feel drawn. Others have said that Barrett’s sculptures are distinctly American in their directness and lightness. His sophisticated constructions, through a delicate balance of form and content, transcend the starker aesthetics of minimalism with a warmth and humanity.

For more information on comparable works by Barrett, please contact the gallery: (760)341-1056 or [email protected]

Kipaipai Workshop Group Exhibition

Join us for the opening reception of Kipaipai Workshop's group exhibition. The Hawaiian word Kipaipai means “to encourage and inspire” and that’s exactly what this intensive program for artists is all about. Founded by Andi Campognone, Director and Curator at the Museum of Art and History (MOAH) in Lancaster, Calif., the program shares information on everything to do with professional art practices from social media promotion to identifying and strategizing goals, gallery representation, and museum exhibitions. The immersive workshops have been held in Ojai, Joshua Tree, on the Big Island of Hawaii, and in upstate New York. The purpose: to help artists take their careers to the next level. Proceeds from all sales will directly benefit the artists and Kipaiapi.

Attention artists: Kipaipai's Mill Valley workshop is now open for applications.

This workshop will help participants to immediately build their professional networks through community and organic connections based on relationships and shared resources. The workshop will run from July 29-31, 2022 at the Ralston White Retreat in Mill Valley, CA. Through private one-on-one sessions and group meetings, students will have the rare opportunity to meet with a team of guest professionals.
