Apply to be a Public Art Grant Panelist!
Accepting panelist applications for the FY23
Public Art Across Maryland Grants (PAAM) Program

MSAC relies on a diverse array of experts from across the state of Maryland to do the important work of evaluating applications. We invite participation through program-specific public calls for panelists. We select panelists with a focus on diversity of experiences, diversity of location, and expertise in varying artistic disciplines. Panelists must be Maryland residents.

Applications to serve as PAAM panelists from fall 2022 to spring 2023 are open now. By reviewing and scoring applications, PAAM panelists bring expertise to supporting artists and organizations applying for grants for the planning and creation of new public artwork, as well as the conservation and preservation of existing works. Serving as a PAAM panelist is a great opportunity to learn about public art granting processes.

What to Expect as a Panelist:
- Attend a virtual panelist training in late October 2022 and check-in in early April 2023.
- Review applications on panelists’ own time during two review periods (November 2022 and April 2023).
- Evaluate approximately 30 applications per review, which requires 8-10 hours over a one-month period.
- Attend two virtual panel meetings to discuss and provide Round 2 scores, on December 2, 2022, and May 5, 2023. Meeting times are approximately 4 hours, with breaks.
- Receive compensation for the training and each review.
- Be able to access a computer with an internet connection to complete reviews and participate in virtual panel meetings.
- You can apply for a PAAM grant and serve as a panelist. Applicants will recuse themselves from scoring their own applications.

What We’re Looking For:
- 7-10 panelists for FY 2023.
- Artists, arts administrators, art conservators, architects, landscape architects, and designers with a background in Visual Art and/or Public Art.
- A wide geographic representation of the state of Maryland.
