Marmion Academy Drill Team Excels in Competition

The Marmion Academy Flannigan Rifles Drill Team cadets won first place at the seventh annual West Aurora High School Blackhawks' Drill Team Competition on Saturday, January 28, 2023 in Aurora, Illinois. In addition to winning the Armed Division championship, the Flannigan Rifles also took first place in Armed Exhibition, Armed Inspection, and Armed Color Guard.

Approximately 400 cadets from 13 area high schools competed in the event which took place in West Aurora’s main gym, Veterans Field House, Red Field House, and band room. In addition to Marmion Academy’s 30-cadet unit, the other teams that participated were from West Aurora, East Aurora, Bolingbrook, Greenfield, Hubbard, Joliet Central, Joliet West, Lincoln-Way East, Lincoln-Way Central, Zion Benton, Waukegan, and Concordia-Lutheran of Ft. Wayne, IN. 

The Marmion Academy drill team is under the direction of LTC Daniel Williams, USA. Jacob Kubitz ’23 is the Team Commander and Joseph Gordon ’23 is the team’s Executive Officer.
