From: Marine Mammal Stranding Center

There's a lot going on here at the Marine Mammal Stranding Center...

Preparations are under way as MMSC staff, along with the staff from two different zoological facilities, plan the transport of our two non-releasable grey seals to their new permanent homes. Grey Seal #22-060 (left) who originally stranded in Ventnor on May 5th, is visually impaired and unable to capture live fish. Grey Seal #22-018 (right) who originally stranded in Ship Bottom on March 15th, has a cardiac condition that requires she be on medication for her entire life. We are thrilled that both of these medically special needs animals will be provided with lifelong expert veterinary care, enrichment, and the companionship of other seals in these two world-class zoological facilities. Stay tuned for updates and announcements as they get settled into their new homes!

As the "Grey Girls" get ready to move on from our hospital, we would like to take a moment to thank each and every one of our donors for making their rescue and recovery possible. Without your support, these two seals may not have had a second chance at life. We are so proud of how far they have both come during their time here at MMSC and look forward to seeing them thrive in their new homes. We know these spunky pups will be amazing ambassadors for their wild counterparts, and their stories will help inspire people to care about seals and their ocean habitat.

THANK YOU for giving them that chance!

Sponsor Trivia

Green Sea Turtles are primarily herbivores, eating mainly seagrass and kelp. This green diet causes the fat and cartilage to turn a green color. This green colored fat and cartilage is where Green Sea Turtles get their name!

Thank you Pirates Den for sponsoring this week's trivia!
