Los Alamos ScienceFest 2023: Energy

Each year, thousands typically participate in Los Alamos ScienceFest week and Discovery Day. Returning this July 7-18 for its 16th year, Los Alamos ScienceFest will feature a dynamic line-up of activities for all ages, celebrating Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM) topics under the theme, "Energy." Join us for Discovery on Saturday, July 8 from 9 am-2 pm at Ashley Pond Park in downtown Los Alamos.

Los Alamos ScienceFest, now in its 16th year, celebrates the history and science of Los Alamos through fun and engaging activities and events for people of all ages. This signature event of Los Alamos is well attended and draws visitors from across the state of New Mexico and beyond.

Our Theme:
This year, Los Alamos ScienceFest follows the theme of "Energy". Associated with motion, this year's theme includes all forms of energy, from potential, and nuclear, to kinetic, thermal, electrical, chemical, and all its other various forms.  

Los Alamos ScienceFest is a collection of events in the middle of summer that focus on bringing science and history to downtown Los Alamos. Concerts, Play Crawls, markets and interactive events are the heart of ScienceFest!

In 2023, ScienceFest will take place on Saturday, July 7-18th at various location around downtown Los Alamos.

Discovery Day - Ashley Pond and Fuller Lodge and Lawn

9 am - 2pm:

- One of our main events during the course of ScienceFest.  Hands-on discoveries await at the many booths represented by a variety of STEM partners.

- Starting at noon, our beer garden and band will open. Surrounded by many vendors and partners with informational booths, this will be a highlight of the afternoon.

Behind the Fence walk-thru Exhibit
9 am-2pm at Fuller Lodge Parking Lot
This one-of-a-kind photo installation takes guests "behind the fence" at Los Alamos National Laboratory itself. Featuring Minesh Bacrania's dynamic photography, taken in collaboration with Smithsonian Magazine, this walking exhibit brings the Lab's Manhattan Project-era buildings and science to life.
