105th Annual Kit Carson County Fair and Rodeo

This will be an action-packed week full of fun and laughter for all ages.  Each day of the fair will be showcasing our hardworking 4-H and FFA members as they show off the projects that they have been working on throughout the year.  

This is a great event for the whole family.

Friday, July 1, 2022
4:00pm: Livestock entry deadline: Youth: beef, bucket calf, sheep, swine, horse, dairy, goat, poultry, and rabbit. Youth market livestock exhibitors must be Meat Quality Assurance certified. Open: sheep lead, poultry, rabbit, & primary livestock.

9:00am: 4-H Clothing and Fashion Revue

Friday, July 22, 2022
4:00pm: Youth booths must be completed.
5:00pm - 7:00pm: Check in for: 4-H general projects, primary projects/primary livestock record books, ag mechanics, shooting sports, 4-H home economics, and 4-H quilts.

Saturday, July 23, 2022
9:00am: Judge general 4-H projects, primary projects/primary livestock record books, shooting sports, 4-H home economics and 4-H quilts.
9:00am: Judge 4-H foods, including primary foods and cake decorating.
9:00am - 10:00am: Open class quilt check-in
10:00am: Open class quilt judging (Ag Building)
10:00am: Judge Ag Mechanics
1:00pm: Judge Youth booths
5:00pm: Tractor Pull

Sunday, July 24, 2022
1:00pm - 5:00pm: Poultry & rabbit check-in.
4:00pm - 5:00pm: Goat and sheep inspection (southwest entrance to west parking lot). (All goats and sheep must be inspected before they are unloaded or weighed in.)
(Scrapie tag rules will be strictly enforced. See Livestock Rules 10 and 11). (All sheep must be slick shorn, 1/4” or less.)
5:00pm: All swine in pens.
5:00pm: Poultry & rabbit exhibitor meeting in poultry & rabbit barn.
5:45pm: Swine informational meeting in show barn for exhibitors, parents and leaders.
6:00pm: Christian Concert provided by Ministerial Alliance.
6:00pm - 8:00pm: Market swine weigh-in. (There will be no pre-weighs allowed during swine weigh-in.)

Monday, July 25, 2022
7:00am - 8:30am: Goat and sheep inspection (southwest entrance to west parking lot). (All goats and sheep must be inspected before they are unloaded or weighed in.)
(Scrapie tag rules will be strictly enforced. See Livestock Rules 10 and 11). (All sheep and goats must be on fairgrounds by 8:30a.m.).
8:30am: Market and breeding beef in stalls.
8:30am: Sheep, goat and beef informational meeting in show barn for exhibitors, parents and leaders.
9:00am: Judge Youth poultry and rabbits.
Show order:
1) Showmanship - Youth
2) Primary poultry
3) Judge Youth poultry & poultry & rabbits rabbit classes
4) Open class & rabbits poultry & rabbits
Note: 1:00pm: Youth poultry and rabbit pictures taken at show barn.
9:00am - 10:00am: Market goat and sheep weigh-in. (All sheep must be slick shorn, ¼” or less).
10:00am - 11:00am: Market beef weigh-in and brand inspection.
(or immediately following sheep/goat weigh-in)
Live Animal Beef Carcass Contest - will be done
simultaneously during beef weigh-in (for those pre-entered).
10:00am - 4:00pm: Entries taken for County Events Day at rodeo ticket booth (east end of grandstands).
11:00am - 2:00pm: Exhibits accepted: Open home ec, living arts, special living arts, open class canning and baking.
12 noon - Catch-it-lamb, pig and goat contest applications due in Fair office.
2:30pm: Open Class foods judging.
5:00pm: Youth Swine Show. Show order:
1) Showmanship
2) Youth Breeding
3) Catch-it-Pig
4) Market Classes
6:00pm: Sheep Lead essays due in Fair office.

10:00am - 5:00pm: Music on stage in Carousel Park (featuring local entertainment).
11:00am - 1:00pm: FREE BARBECUE
11:00am - 1:00pm: FREE WATERMELON FEED
12:45pm: County Events Day Grand Entry, introduction, pledges and rodeo.
1:00pm: County Events Day activities begin. (Kids events on the track.)
4:00pm: Consignment deadline for extra animals. (No consignments accepted after deadline.)
10:00am - 9:00pm: Rodeo tickets sold (ticket booth located at east end of grandstands).

1:00pm: “Cow Patty” Bingo contest held on track west of the arena.
3:30pm: Youth awards presentation: general 4-H
projects, herdsman and 4-H Home Economics (Heritage Arts & 4-H Foods/Cake Decorating), catch-it-calf, pig, lamb, goat, in the grandstands (overall catch-it awards will be presented at 4-H Achievement Program), Live Carcass & Market Beef Feeding Contest awards.
10:00am - 9:00pm: Concert/rodeo tickets sold (ticket booth located at east end of grandstands).
5:00pm - 7:30pm: Music on stage in Carousel Park.
7:30pm: Parade of livestock

3:00pm - 6:00pm: Knights of Columbus “Cook-Off” (east of end track).
2:00pm - 3:00pm:General Release Of 4-H And Open Class Exhibits. (Exhibit buildings will be closed from 1-2 p.m. to allow superintendents time to organize exhibits for release.)
