Nowashe Village on TV!

We are so excited!! Nowashe Village is being featured on CPTV this Sunday! Connecticut Public is highlighting local artists, performers, and unique spaces across the state in their video docuseries, “Where Art Thou,” and Nowashe is a destination on the show!

In episode 3 of season 2, Host Ray Hardman travels to South Windsor, specifically to Nowashe Village, where sisters Taylor and Miciah Stasis of Red rock designs teach viewers about Indigenous culture in New England through weaving and porcupine quill embroidery.

Viewers can watch “Where Art Thou: North Central Connecticut” on air or stream the episode online. This episode premieres Sunday, July 10 at 7:30pm ET on air, and can be streamed any time after the premiere date at https://www.ctpublic.org/whereartthou.

Nowashe Village is Participating in CT Summer at the Museum

Nowashe Village will be participating in the CT Summer at the Museum program again this year and offering free admission to the public on July 9, 2022, and August 13, 2022, from 11am-4pm.

In July, Nowashe will be having a Stories and Games themed day featuring Dan Shears (Nulhegan Abenaki) who will be leading Indigenous games by demonstrating a new game on the hour.  Native American Storytelling will also be a feature of the free family fun day as Nowashe welcomes Silvermoon Mars LaRose, a member of the Narragansett Tribe, and Assistant Director of the Tomaquag Museum to lead Native storytelling. She will also be discussing several unique cultural items that will be on display. Dozens of QR Codes will be stationed throughout the Village for you to explore at your own pace.

Want to learn more about storytelling or hunting equipment and techniques but can’t make it to Nowashe?
