Entrepreneur In-Residence

Rosalind 'Roz' Zavras is a non-profit operations expert with over 15 years of experience. Roz has created her own practice, Aropa Consulting, for small and growing nonprofits.

Session 1: Non-Profit Financials 101: Understanding and Managing the Complexities of Non-Profit Reporting
Tuesday, October 11, 12:30-2 pm

This virtual session will help individuals understand the basics of non-profit financial reporting. We will review sample non-profit reports and talk about how non-profit accounting is different from regular accounting. This program will be virtual only.

Session 2: The Web of Non-Profit Compliance: How to Survive an Audit and Other Financial Compliance Concerns
Thursday, October 20, 6-7:30 pm

As tax-exempt organizations, non-profits in the U.S. have a variety of compliance requirements! We will review audits and the non-profit tax return to understand how you can maintain compliance throughout all stages of growth. This program will be held in person only.

Wednesday, October 12, 5:30-7:30 pm

Learn about available bank products and services, business incubators, accelerator programs, and resources for small businesses in the New Haven Area. Participants are encouraged to make connections to benefit the growth of your business! Say hello to Ives Squared staff and our community partners! This program will be held at Gateway Community College.

Tinker Lab Events

The Tinker Lab provides the training and tools for experimentation and an introduction to the world of creating and making, an essential element of the 21st-century learner.

Creative In-Residence

Vicky Blume is a New Haven artist and web designer. This is her eighth autumn in the city. Blume has lit up community engagement for Artspace and Creative Arts Workshop. This August, she joined Fractured Atlas, a non-profit tech company providing business tools for artists.

Hate Squarespace? Meet Webflow
Wednesday, October 5, 6-7:30 pm

Join CIR Vicky Blume for an exciting introduction to an intuitive, fluid new software for your next website: Webflow. Used by professionals and beginners across the world, Webflow is a platform for designing, building, and launching (free) responsive websites—with a 100% visual, user-friendly interface. Registration is required. This program will be held in person only.

Logo Design Workshop with Digital Designer Alana Ladson and CIR Vicky Blume
Wednesday, October 26, 6-7:30 pm
Join digital designer Alana Ladson and Creative-in-Residence Vicky Blume for an interactive logo design workshop, covering topics like logo concept development, color selection, and consistency. No design experience required! Refreshments will be provided. Registration is required. This program will be held in person only.

The Night Market
Friday, October 14, 5-10 pm

The New Haven Night Market is downtown New Haven’s evening bazaar, gathering all to celebrate the vibrant New Haven and Greater New Haven community’s entrepreneurs, art, music, food, drink, culture, and more! It is hosted by Town Green District. Ives Squared will have a table where all ages can come and make beaded bracelets! This program will be held in person only at the New Haven Green.

Tiny Art Show - Vote for Your Favorite!
Through October

We have several wonderful entries into our tiny art show!  These pieces are now on display in Ives Squared.  Vote for your favorite child, teen, and adult entry, and the winners will receive a $10 gift certificate to Artist & Craftsman!

We are looking for new Skill Share participants!

Skill Share is a volunteer program where participants share their neat skills with others! From knitting to coding to folding paper lucky stars, nearly anything is possible!  Workshops can be single programs or a series, and volunteers can get community service hours for the time they are running the workshop!  Ives Squared will even provide the supplies (within reason).

Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator Assistance

Make a one-on-one appointment to learn the basic skills of Photoshop or Illustrator. You can sign up here or email Abby at [email protected] for assistance with your project.

Learn the Tinker Lab Machines by Appointment or Online

If you are interested in learning the machines in Ives Squared, you can schedule an appointment here. If you are unavailable at any of these times, please contact Jennifer Gargiulo at [email protected].  

You can now learn how to use our machines online!  Watch the training video for the machine you want to learn at your convenience.  When you are ready, call us to schedule your certification test!

CEDF Office Hours
Mondays, 6-8PM

The mission of the Community Economic Development Fund (CEDF) is to strengthen neighborhood economies by providing flexible financing, technical support and educational opportunities to businesses, community organizations and initiatives in communities throughout Connecticut.

Doreen Abubakar is a Business Resource Navigator for CEDF. She has been active in the community as the founder of the Urban Nonprofit Network, the Community Placemaking Network, and as a volunteer advisor with SCORE. Her goal is to help small minority businesses become sustainable.
