Celebrate Independence Day 1892 in Railroad Town! Here’s the schedule of the day:

9:00 am - 5:00 pm: Museum open
10:00 am: German Language Church Service at the Immanuel Lutheran Church hosted by the Hall County Historical Society
12:00 pm: Firing of the Anvil at Parking Lot G (weather permitting)
2:00 pm: A “Mammoth” Citizens Parade, Front Street in Railroad Town - Kids are invited to join the parade! Meet by the Glade Mill approx. 1:45. Kids that participate in the parade will receive a flag of their own to wave with patriotic pride!

Following the parade, a patriotic band concert will be presented by the Silver Cornet Band along with a programme by Railroad Town dignitaries. The programme will feature a welcome by the Mayor of Railroad Town, readings by the ladies of the Railroad Town Patriotic Society and Railroad Town Literary Society, a stirring reading of The Declaration of Independence by a member of the Sons of the Revolution, and more!

Following the conclusion of the programme, traditional races for the kids will be held on the town green. Races include a 3-legged race,  sack race, egg race, wheelbarrow race, and more! Ribbons will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in each race for each age division (6 & under, 7-12 years & 12-14 years). A pie-eating contest will also take place at the bandstand with the following classes: ages 8 & under - 1/6 of a pie; ages 9-16 - 1/4 of a pie; ages 17 & up - 1/2 of a pie. Entrants will receive a participation certificate upon completion.

Food & Drink will be available at the Silver Dollar in Railroad Town and the Stuhr Bistro in the air-conditioned Stuhr Building from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Independence Day.
