From: Nevada Governor Joe LombardoLast night, First Lady Kathy Sisolak and Governor Sisolak hosted “The First Lady Presents...” Second Annual Art Exhibition in the Governor’s Mansion in Carson City on Tuesday evening, kicking off the six-month public display of artwork from local contemporary artists.
“Art and culture are not only found on walls and pedestals in museums and galleries, but in our own homes, from food to traditions, from music to movies,” said First Lady Kathy Sisolak. “Diversity and culture are very meaningful to me, and this program aims to promote the education and acceptance of social equity which allows all people, in Nevada and beyond, to feel invited, welcomed and safe."
"The First Lady Presents...” is a statewide initiative to showcase dedication towards cultural awareness, education and diversity through art in Nevada. Each month, a contemporary artist is paired with an artifact from the Nevada State Museum’s Curator Corner.
Through collaboration with the Nevada State Museums, the Nevada Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs and local curators, including public art consultant and curator Mark Salinas, “The First Lady Presents...” aims to promote and expand the visibility of historically underrepresented artists and communities in Nevada.
