ICCA's New Initiative Saves Visual Art in the Cascade School District!

April 27, 2024

From: Icicle Creek Center for the Arts

Icicle Creek is excited to announce a new partnership that will keep visual arts instruction a regular part of the 2024/25 curriculum for all students at Peshastin-Dryden Elementary, Alpine Lakes Elementary, and Icicle River Middle School!

With major budget cuts on the horizon for our local Cascade School District, we were informed that the vibrant visual arts programs built by Amber Zimmerman and Lore Smart were at risk of being cut in the 2024/25 school year. These programs have been absolutely vital in helping students develop their artistic skills, yes, and also their ability to create without fear and to take pride and a sense of accomplishment in expressing themselves. We could not just sit by and let them disappear.

Working closely with our friends at Village Art in the Park and the Cascade School District, we here at Icicle Creek have found a way to keep these programs alive – employing the same beloved instructors and assuring that 800+ students will continue to have regular access to high quality arts classes for this year!

This is just one of the ways that Icicle Creek looks to make an impact for students (of all ages) in North Central Washington. We pride ourselves on providing amazing opportunities on our campus, out in the community, and in collaboration with local school districts and Wenatchee Valley College. Interested in learning more? Come to Camp Benefit Bash, taking place on Saturday, April 27!

So much more than just our annual fundraiser, Camp Benefit Bash will be a fun-filled evening that gives you a glimpse into all our educational initiatives - summer camps, the Visiting Artist Series, adult workshops, the Chamber Music Institute, and the list goes on! We impact over 8000 students each year with inspiring arts experiences, so come on down to Camp Benefit Bash and support the future of arts education in North Central Washington!
