Veterans Coffee Hour

Military veterans are invited to the museum the first Friday of every month for an hour of coffee and conversation. Each session has a special focus and provides attendees with a community calendar of events, free activities and updates on services for Veterans. The longstanding tradition of Friday morning En Plein Air painting continues in collaboration with Hull Artists.
All artists are welcome to participate, from beginners to professionals, painting typically from 9am - noon. Please bring materials of your choice. A chair, hat, and water bottle are recommended.

Veterans Rowing Program

This Saturday, September 3rd, the Hull Lifesaving Museum will be hosting its next Veterans' Rowing event at the museum's boathouse in Hull. The program is an outgrowth of the ongoing First Friday Veterans' Meetups held at the museum on the first Friday of each month.
Volunteers are invited to lend a hand. If you know of any veterans who might be interested participating please pass the word or email us for further information.

The Hull Lifesaving Museum and the Friday Painters Group are partnering for the grand opening of Joshua's Staircase Gallery right here at the museum. Artwork, the fruits of the love and labor from many of the painters who participated in this summer's program will be on exhibit. The show will run throughout the month of September so be sure to drop by the museum Thursday through Monday, 9-4 pm to enjoy the exhibit and spread the word to friends and family to come by to admire the talent of our local art community. Don't overlook this great opportunity to purchase local art.

Look for our table at the Nantasket Beach Car Show coming Sunday, September 18. Come spend the day by the ocean and view hundreds of classic, antique and modern cars and trucks. All lined up side by side for a half a mile along Nantasket Avenue. Fun for all ages, so don’t forget to bring the family. This event is organized and hosted by the Rotary Club of Nantasket Hull in cooperation with the Hull Police Department, The Town of Hull, The Plymouth County Sheriffs Department and the DCR.

The Head of the Weir Race is a celebration of the estuary at the height of its fall beauty and the fabulous array of the region's open water rowers from all over New England and New York. This highly-contested 5 1/2 miler, begins at West Corner (on the Hingham/Hull/Cohasset line), past Bumpkin Island across Hull Bay to the museum's Windmill Point Boathouse at Hull Gut. This is an exceptionally exciting race and a great spectator event.

In partnership with the Smithsonian and Mass Humanities, HLM will be hosting "Crossroads: Change in Rural America," a traveling exhibit produced by the Smithsonian Institution's Museum on Main Street program. This exhibit offers small towns a chance to look at their own paths to highlight the changes that affected their fortunes over the past century.

The Lake Champlain Challenge race was held on August 27 in Vergennes, Vermont at Lake Champlain Maritime Museum. Three adventurous crews, two from Hull and one from Boston participated in this 3-mile course on a beautiful sunny summer day. Read more.

For Museum Tours & Gift Shop
Afternoons (time varies)
People person? Open to volunteers who enjoy history. Ideal for adults or especially teens seeking community service hours. it's a great way to learn more about our local history, interact with visitors from around town and around the world. Hours are flexible but most needed during the summer season.
Landscaping & Small Carpentry
Interested in working behind the scenes? We have a running list of small maintenance tasks that may include but is not limited to carpentry, painting, and gardening, etc.
Event Assistance
Interested in helping to support the Hull Lifesaving Museum look great and deliver on our signature events? We seek volunteer support to help us during events such as exhibit openings, fundraisers, and lectures. Some lifting may be needed but not required. This role may include setting up chairs or tables, manning information tables, checking in guests, cleaning up after events, and/or working with vendors or guests during events.
