Passing of Rapp Road Historical Association President, Beverley Bardequez

HAF is saddened to share that longtime Rapp Road Historic Association and dear friend to HAF, Beverley Bardequez has passed away.

Beverley was a beautiful spirit and fiercely passionate about her family's heritage in Albany and Mississippi. She became the President of the Rapp Road Historic Association in 2010 and worked with Historic Albany on many endeavors to promote and preserve the Rapp Road Community.  Despite health issues in recent years, Beverley was always positive and upbeat, cheerfully participating in programs and attending meetings with HAF.

During her tenure “Crossroads: The History of Rapp Road and the Great Migration” documentary was featured on PBS, and the RRHA walking tour was established. The RRHA exhibit was featured and presented at many locations throughout NYS, including the NYS Museum. Beverly was recognized for her dedication to the association, receiving numerous citations and awards – most notably in 2003, she was the recipient of the Chancellor’s Award.

The Rapp Road Historic Association and Beverley's family are in our thoughts and we wish them peace as she continues on her journey.
