Dena Reese-Booze Art Exhibit
Show ends March 1st!

Dena Reese-Booze is a self-taught artist residing and working in North Carolina. After raising a family and establishing a career in the legal field as a paralegal, she wanted to return to her love of creative expression. Throughout the years she focused her attention on writing, publishing her first book of poetry in 2015. Looking for a new creative outlet, she began experimenting with watercolor in 2019 and eventually settled into abstract expressionism. Dena entered her first art competition in 2021 and was chosen as a finalist in the 4th Annual Women Artists Art Competition Art Exhibition held by Fusion Art.

She primarily works in acrylic, spray paint, and graphite. Through those mediums, she depicts her interpretations of herself, her community, and society. She wants her art to tell a story through shapes and movements of her observations and connections to her surroundings. Dena hopes that her pieces cause the viewer to stop and reflect on their connections to themselves and the world around them.

Female Artist Showcase: Egg In Nest
Lindsey Chester & Beverly Dorland
Show Runs: March 10 - May 1, 2023

Free Reception: Fri, March 10, 6pm-8pm

Egg in Nest is a unique Art Studio offering Art Classes for children and adults in the Southwest Raleigh, Cary and Apex area. Children of all ages gather in small groups to make art and enhance creativity. Each student works independently on art projects of their choice! They offer after-school, home-school and track-out art class times and evening hours for teens and adults. Painting, drawing and portfolio prep classes are held weekly during the school year and Art Camps are available in the summer. Painting lessons include watercolor, oils and acrylic drawing lessons explores graphite, charcoal, pastel and mixed media materials. Egg in Nest is owned and operated by Jenny Eggleston.

Lindsey Chester's art focuses on people, places, and occasionally pets, using acrylic paint, watercolors, or graphite. The play of values is central to her work. The darks are dark and the lights are bright with high-contrast a common theme. Lindsey graduated from the Mason Gross School of Art, at Rutgers University with a BFA concentrated in drawing and printmaking. She had a 15-year career designing women's clothing in the New York Garment Center before moving to Cary, NC in 1998 with her family. She is a current board member of the Fine Arts League of Cary.

Clay is a mesmerizing, tactile medium that draws Beverly Dorland in. Because the surface treatment for the final form influences all decisions, the challenge is to honor the clay’s three dimensional characteristics and its transformation through the firing processes. In all of Dorland’s pieces, she hopes the lingering viewer discovers details and an appreciation for that moment in time spent with her work.
