A Day at the Farm – Swann Middle students will spend a day at the farm at N.C. A&T. The university recently received a grant to develop education opportunities for teachers and students across the state. Between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., students will participate in several activities that teach them about food systems and make a physical connection with the book they are reading called “The Omnivore’s Dilemma.”

Busta Brown helps kids Bust a Move against Crime – The New Cool Movement, led by Founder, Executive Director and Radio and TV personality Busta Brown and Organization President Jeremiah Jett, is dedicated to igniting positive change within our community. They will be collaborating with High Point law enforcement, city officials, and local leaders to address the urgent concern of youth crime in our schools and communities through impactful discussions and proactive measures. 6^th, 7^th, and 8th-grade students at Southwest Middle will participate in three sessions between 10:00 a.m. and 12:50 p.m.

Choice Application Window Opens – Families can decide what path to send their students on by embracing the power of Choice. The Choice application window opens online today. Families have more than two-dozen elementary, middle and high school options to choose from. The district offers schools and programs that range from performing arts and engineering to aerospace and health sciences. Applications are available here. IT Superstars Shine at Kearns Academy – Students at Kearns Academy are learning tools to succeed in an ever-changing workforce. The future computer science professionals are learning how to keep businesses and people safe in their cybersecurity classes. While some people are shying away from artificial intelligence, Kearns students are embracing the new technology that promises to help life and businesses run efficiently. Once they graduate, students will have the credentials needed to either enter one of the fastest-growing fields or be lightyears ahead of their peers in college.

Excellence at Andrews- The aerospace industry is booming in the triad. Andrews High students are preparing to fill positions in this critical workforce. Aviation students are learning how to build parts, service and fly the planes that come in and out of PTI. Many students belong to the Civil Air Patrol to gain greater exposure to the aerospace industry and graduate with up to four free semesters completed at GTCC.

Future frontline workers are learning saving skills at the Andrews Academy of Health Sciences. Students enter the fast track to increasing their wage-earning potential while in high school, earning certifications for critical healthcare positions like CAN and pharmacy tech.

Northeast High – Come check out the friendly robots being programmed by students. Computer and Information Science students learn how to interact, analyze and code different devices using innovative technology. These students are learning the answers to tomorrow’s questions by exploring the challenges and experiences of computer scientists in government agencies and businesses. An example of a challenge that a student might experience is participating in an international government conflict simulation, where the student is serving as a government official who must encrypt and decrypt messages to determine how to advise national leaders. Students will present their work to industry partners.

Enter to Learn, Depart to Teach - Meet the future educators of Dudley High, where managing a classroom is part of their classwork. These students learn the basics of early childhood education and participate in internships that mark the start of a promising and rewarding career. Last year, students who participated in similar programs in the district were offered classrooms of their own when they graduated college.

Be You – 5^th grade Guilford eLearning University Prep student Austin Hayes will get to see her imagination come to life on stage. Hayes is the winner of the 2023 “Barbara Ann Peters Write Your Own Opera” contest sponsored by the Greensboro Opera. Hayes’ story is about a girl who struggles to find herself after transitioning to middle school and takes a journey to discover her identity by expressing herself through her art.
